The Merry Mischief-Makers
Applique. Hello and Merry Christmas! It was
during the "hot, dog days of summer" when I
started working on The Merry Mischief-Makers.
Every year, in late summer, I start thinking about how
I am going to decorate my tree for the upcoming
Christmas season. This year, I picked my color scheme
very quickly, but realized that none of my tree skirts
worked with these colors. So off to my drawing board I
went, and Rodney the Reindeer and Noelle the Angel were
soon born! It wasn't but several days later that Harley
the Elf showed up also. When I showed Harley to a
friend and I settled on his name, she immediately
popped off and said "He makes the bikes at Santa's
Workshop - not the motorcycles, but the bikes!"

Mitered Table Linens.
The Mitered Table Linens pattern contains patterns and
instructions for two different placemats and one table
runner. Both of the placemats and the table runner have
a contrasting border with mitered corners. The border
is sewn down with a "wing" needle using the
sewing machine's appliqué stitch. When you are
finished, your friends will think you've paid a fortune
for these fancy-stitched placemats.

Take-along Tote. The
Take-along Tote pattern contains my basic tote bag.
When I make diaper bags, I use this pattern and
appliqué my animals onto the front of the bag. On
one occasion, I placed an oversized monogram on the
front of the bag and gave it to a friend for their
graduation. It is such a good size that it makes a
wonderful bag!

Jungle Jubilee
Appliqué. Hello! Let me introduce you to
my six newest children — Edwina the Elephant,
Girault the Giraffe, Hollie the Hippo, Landon the Lion,
Mortimer the Monkey, and Zoe the Zebra. As I told you
in Lulabelle & Friends, my
husband and I do not have "human" children,
so our animals (both real and imaginary) have become
our children. As I was creating each of these animals,
some of their names came easily to me, while others did
not. Some of the names had no special meaning before I
chose them. This was not the case with Edwina the
Elephant. She was named for my father - a big, stocky
man who passed away several years ago from cancer. If
you look closely at the Elephant purse, you can tell
that I used some of his ties in my appliqué. You have many choices of things to use for you appliqué surface with my Jungle Jubilee Appliqué. The only requirement is that it needs to be strong enough to support the weight of the appliqué - meaning, you shouldn't use a light-weight, delicate surface. The lightest weight surface I would recommend is muslin. The instructions provide you with two options for attaching your Jungle Jubilee Appliqué to your appliqué surface. You can sew your appliqué either by machine or by hand. Besides the quilt and wall hanging, I have also provided you with the pattern information for the children's outfits, pillow and purse. |

Winter Friends
Appliqué. You have so many choices of
things to use for your appliqué surface with my
Winter Friends Appliqué. For example, you can
use a sweatshirt, a denim shirt, a little girl's
jumper, a tote bag, or a tea towel. The only
requirement is that it needs to be strong enough to
support the weight of the appliqué - meaning,
you shouldn't use a light-weight, delicate surface. The
lightest weight surface I would recommend is
muslin. The instructions provide you with two options for attaching your Winter Friends Appliqué to your appliqué surface. You can sew your appliqué either by machine or by hand. The instructions also show you how to add the "finishing touch" to any or all of the ribbed-knit bands of your sweatshirt using the blanket stitch. |

Lulabelle & Playmates
Appliqué. Hello! Let me introduce you to
four of my newest friends -- Lulabelle the Lamb,
Shuggie the Dog, Mr. Quackles the Duck, and Pavirotti
the Cat. Even though my husband and I do not have
"human" children, our animals (and everyone
else's in the neighborhood, too) have become our
children. As I created and named each of these animals,
each one took on its own personality. While some of you
might think I'm crazy, I like to believe that I'm still
a child at heart! Initially, I had planned to only turn my appliqués into a quilt, but later I realized that they would also look adorable on children's outfits. This pattern includes the instructions for the quilt, but you have many other choices of things to use for your appliqué surface with my Lulabelle & Playmates Appliqué. For example, you may want to use a sweatshirt, a denim shirt, a little girl's jumper, a tote bag, a back pack, or a tea towel just to name a few. The only requirement is that it needs to be strong enough to support the weight of the appliqué - meaning, you shouldn't use a light-weight, delicate surface. The lightest weight surface I would recommend is muslin. The instructions provide you with two options for attaching your Lulabelle & Playmates Appliqué to your appliqué surface. You can sew your appliqué either by machine or by hand. Besides the quilt, I have also provided you with the pattern information for the children's outfits. |

Court Jester Christmas
Stocking. This is a one-of-a-kind Christmas
stocking that can be monogrammed, but looks just as
good not! It looks like the old-timey, court jester's
shoe. The boot is stuffed to give it added dimension. A
network of bias strips are added to the exterior and
attached with decorative stitches to embellish the
stocking.

Down on the Farm
Appliqué. Those of you who have been in my
classes know that I have had my farm animals
"cooking" in my head for quite a while. One
late fall day in 2007, my husband and I were on our way
to Starkville, Mississippi when we passed a field of
cows and the idea for this pattern was born. Since that
fall 2007 day, my husband and I have lost two more dear
family members - his grandmother and my sister's
husband. I spent Spring 2008, moving my sister and her
husband from their farm of many decades to Starkville.
In the early years of my brother-in-law's farm, they
raised cows; so it was an easy choice of who to name
the cow after. The pretty little bird sitting on the
back wheel of the tractor was named after my husband's
grandmother.
