Thank you for your wonderful web store! I purchased
insertion from your store to combine with old laces I
already had to create a wonderful dress for my soon to be
7 year old daughter, Carlen.
After 17 hours of sewing, I've completed it! It is
special because it uses lace, buttons and sewing
techniques from 3 of Carlen's great-grandmothers. The
bulk of the lace comes from her great-grandmother,
Fanalou Carlen, some lace and sewing technique from her
great-grandmother, Karin Adams; and buttons from her
great-grandmother, Grace Post. The pattern is called "The
Victorian Drop Waist Dress" by Ginger Snaps Designs and
the fabric is imported 100% cotton Swiss batiste. The
slip is ivory poly-cotton broadcloth, which helps create
an antique look with the old lace.
She's tried it on now and seems to enjoy prancing around
in it. We've already discussed the fact that when she
wears this dress, she won't be able to play on the church
playground! I plan to have a wonderful portrait taken of
her wearing it - I have to hurry before she loses her two
front teach! And of course she'll use it for her Easter
dress this year (and Christmas - I'll get a red
sash!).
It's been a blast making it - hope you like the photos!
