"Victorian Treasures" by Debbie Glenn. I witnessed Debbie growing from an artist/designer to an accomplished businesswoman in the
sewing industry. She has developed a line of patterns for women, children, and babies, which are
both expertly designed and a delight to reproduce. She has created embroidery designs for hand
and machine reproduction. When machine embroidery became "quite the vogue” several years
ago, Debbie developed a way to achieve the look of hand sewing by machine. She has gracefully
executed both hand and machine work with equal distinction and perfection.
This; book, Victorian Treasures , includes many must-have projects for those who love heirloom sewing for babies, children, and interiors. In addition to a wealth of beautiful designs, the book includes many literary quotations chosen especially by Debbie, which add historical intrigue to the book. The text is well organized, easily read and professionally illustrated. Debbie has shopped flea markets all over the world for her inspiration. Even the project names are enchanting including such titles as "Royal Baby Trousseau," "Milady's Boudoir Pillow," "Snow Drops Guest Towels," "Star Dust Baby Gown,” Portobello Love Letters," "Magnolia Court, and "Rose Petals and Lace Daygown." I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys sewing and particularly to those who are forever for heirloom inspiration. There are truly many hours of enjoyment between the beautiful covers. Congratulations, Debbie on a job well done. Martha Pullen.... |
